method ‘wash smart give smart’

We love method. There’s so much to say about them. Especially as they seem to just keep getting things right. As part of their launch strategy for their new line of laundry products, they partnered with Goodwill clothing donation and drove glass-sided vans all around San Fran and NYC – stopping every now and then to ask people to donate their clothes to their trucks. And if you were unprepared for a clothing sacrifice, that’s fine, you were encouraged to donate the clothes you were wearing right there and then. Next, method wash your donated clothes so they’re ready for their next owner, and if you were one of the lucky first 200 people to donate you got some free product to try at home. ‘Wash smart, give smart’ indeed.

I love this stunt. It’s wildly generous and created huge talkability as method inserted themselves right into communities on a very local level. They seem to be a brand that cares about more than just shifting jugs of detergent. This is very appealing; and completely above and beyond the call of duty for a washing detergent. So, how could we go over and above our call of duty?

That is a great stunt! And I am have been admiring the recent print ad compaign. Love it! I wish there was a way to translate the “stunt” to reach a more targetted audience. I know these things aren’t economical on a smaller scale but if you could somehow reach suburbia moms like me on the North Shore (Chicago), Westchester (NYC) or say Mirin County (SF) and create word of mouth…wow.
