I don’t really follow football. At all. Perhaps this is why I find this so intriguing. The club Hannover 96 has built a special delivery room for births not far from their stadium. The service was set up in conjunction with the local hospital and was the brainchild of two football crazed midwives. The room is ostentatiously decorated with the Hannover colours green, black and white and so far, there have been enough births that they are just one baby short of a team.

Weirdness/obsessiveness aside, there’s a lesson to be learnt here about superfans and how we treat them. If we have fans, crazy fans, let’s show them some serious love. Let’s do something seemingly ‘too far’ in their honour – amazingly, your superfans will respond and everyone else (like me) will, at the very least, talk about it.
