Tasteless shortcuts to tasty dinners
By Jude Bliss, 30/09/2010
If like me your incredibly indecisive and your other half is even more so then simple everyday tasks like deciding what to have for dinner can become huge mammoth sized obstacles that we have to battle to overcome.
This startingly useful and expletive filled website takes all that hassle out of the decision making process by offering simple, tasty dinner suggestions and links to their respective recipies at the click of a mouse. If you don’t fancy what’s suggested or if you have certain dietary requirements you can skip on to another.
Whether you think the casual prophanities are funny, stupid or both its a refreshingly different way to be sold food. In a world choc-a-block with meal making iphone apps, around the clock TV cooking shows, ‘matey’ Jamie Oliver and ‘sexy’ Nigella Lawson, the extreme close-up ‘food porn’ M&S ads, Heston’s bizarre experiments and the trend for ‘culinary experiences’ food and dining has probably never been so over-exposed and over-indulged.
We are often spoilt for choice when it comes to food choices and having so many options available can mean we end up delibarating on what to have. Using the simplicity of the layout, big bold text and of course very colourful language this website breaks with the recent convention of selling food by using implicit sexual ineundo, elaborate descriptive names and extreme food closeups. It shouts at you and tells you to sort yourself out, stop delibarating and just ******* make some of this.
Not for everyone I’m sure and gimmicky and tasteless yes, but a novel way for food recipes to be filtered and recommended and a time saving, shortcut to a tasty meal. For this, worth a mention.
